OUR PHILOSOPHYWhen we remember how, just 30 years ago, our parents used to dive we can admit that today scuba diving is essentially a safe activity. The statistics in fact confirm that the number of diving accidents each year is so small to make scuba diving considered less dangerous than soccer! However, whenever a diving accident has announced there is so much talk about whether it is possible and how to improve our activities in terms of security. The question which we must answer is: who is responsible for diving accidents? To make diving safer, we decided to focus our efforts on the risk prevention and on a "conservative" conduct of training, namely do not accept challenges but to educate aware and responsible divers. This approach has led us to halve the number of pupils per instructor bringing it up to 4:1. When the number of participants is higher than 4 what we do is add another instructor to keep the student to instructor ratio at a maximum of 4 students for each instructor. If there are 6 divers for example there will be 2 instructors underwater with a ratio even lower equal to 3:1. The advantage of working with a limited number of students results in more time for practice in water, more experience, easier learning, more fun and of course more safety. |
